Once again our day started with theater warmups. Today we did pass the emotion, where one person selects an emotion to act out then passes it around the circle... if anyone laughs when they aren't supposed to, then they are out. At first some of us had a hard time trying to make realistic faces for each emotion, but as we went on each young filmmaker got better.
After playing pass the emotion, we did popcorn. Each person jumps up and claps at different times, making the final outcome look like they are popcorn. Good exercise to get some of that energy out.
Following our warm-ups and snack, we formed groups for our projects. Each group discussed what they want to do in their project to answer the question "What does it mean to be Yup'ik?" Each group chose what form their film was going to take... a play, interviews, etc., who their audience was going to be (old, young, yupiit, kass'aqs), and started to make storyboards to plan out their scenes.
At the very end of the workshop today, we got to use the cameras again, experimenting with how to film. Some of the videos were quite silly and some are possible parts of projects.
